James W. Throckmorton- Indian Fighter, Confederate General, Governor of Texas

Pecan Grove Cemetery is located on property granted by the Republic of Texas in 1845. The cemetery honors remains of the original Texas settlers of McKinney, including Dr. James Webb Throckmorton, governor of Texas in 1866-1867. In addition, headstones mark the presence of 203 veterans from the Texas Revolution, the Mexican War, Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
